It consists of the renovation of a lake house on the outskirts of Berlin for an artist. The exterior was left untouched, only some of the windows were replaced and the building insulated ( roof and walls). As a major modification, a single large opening was made to connect the kitchen directly to the garden.

The interior is lined throughout in multiplex wood: walls, floor, and ceiling alike, giving the whole envelope a sense of continuity. Colour was chosen hand in hand with the artist, and mattered enormously to him: every interior scene was treated almost like a view within a painting.

Some of those wooden panels move, rotate, or disappear altogether, opening up connections between floors and revealing or hiding pieces of furniture as they do. A small, joyful choreography built into the house itself.
